Scarbandit’s products are designed to bond with the outer layer of the skin, the stratum corneum and form a protective barrier against physical and microbial invasion of the scar site.
Newly formed scar tissue is very fragile, and moisture from within evaporates on the skin surface. A silicone sheet or gel covers the scar site and contains the moisture from evaporating. This reduces collagen and keratinocyte stimulation. Which results in reduced height, redness & improved elasticity of the scar site.
Scarbandit products are suited for the treatment of surgery, keloid, hypertrophic, c-section, burn and acne scars. All our products contain medical grade silicone that has been proven to flatten, soften, reduce and improve the overall appearance of the scar.
You can start to apply your treatment right after the stitches have been removed and the wound is fully closed.
Acclimatize your skin by applying the silicone sheet for 4 hours per day for the first 2 days. 8 hours for the next 2 days. Then 2 more hours with each day. The silicone sheet should be worn for a minimum of 12 hours a day. Optimal therapy requires the silicone sheet to be worn for 23 hours. This gives your skin around 1 hour to breathe and calm down.
Typically, scars start to soften in around a week. Improvement in appearance, texture and color around 5 – 10 weeks. Continue the therapy for 3 – 6 months. However, keep in mind that all scars are different, and results may vary. For older scars the process takes longer than on newly formed scars. In general, the sooner you start with the treatment the better.
The scar treatment process varies greatly from person to person. Every skin is unique, and many factors determine how the treatment duration. We recommend a minimum treatment time of 90 days.

Scarbandit adhesive is designed to last, so slow, gently removal is crucial. To remove, start at one corner and slowly peel the sheet / tape away from the skin. Don’t pull it off too quickly as it could damage the newly formed, fragile scar tissue.
